What is Incident
Incident started as an experiment in programming and animation, transformed into a pure animation project, and then a DVD project. The origins of Incident are covered in the Part One project notes.
This is a one man show. Everything from screenplay to design to coding to modeling to animation to editing to post-production to DVD authoring has been done by one single person. Except, of course, the stuff I "borrowed" - everything from ideas to designs to music and sound effects. You can find the author's email in the Trash.
The animations and DVD images released so far can be downloaded in Hibernation. Incident may yet continue, but since I've been working full-time since 2002, it's been increasingly difficult to find time to complete elaborate animations.
The Story
Incident takes place in the future. Most of the story happens in the year 5379. By this time, humans have inhabited about a hundred star systems and nearly twenty planets have been terraformed.
Technological advancements aside, 5379 is perhaps the most important turning point for mankind since man learned to speak. The beginning of the beginning. An outside threat causes a fundamental change in what we know as "humanity".
Incident depicts some of the first encounters of the first alien life form ever found.
Files
Incident is available in two formats:
- Xvid AVI files
To view these, you need the Xvid codec from www.xvid.org.
- DVD images
You know the drill: mount the image and play with a DVD player of your choice, or burn a DVD and fire up your home theater. For the clinically insane, the old files from the DOS era are also still available. These include the DOS / Win95 player and data files for parts 1-2. Before downloading these, have a look at the Technical Manual.
